1. What support is recommended for installing a COMFORT~ONE™ cable?
-
A COMFORT~ONE™ cable can be installed on different materials, including plywood, smooth concrete, cement panel, ceramic, acoustic membrane, anti-fracture membrane and mortar.
-
You can use a polymer-modified ceramic mortar or a self-leveling cement with a primer coat.
-
You can install the floor coverings: ceramic, marble, granite, natural stone, linoleum (floating or not), laminate flooring, engineered wood, and carpeting.
-
We do not recommend installation under a hardwood floor. Since wood is a living material that requires a constant humidity rate, a heating cable would dry it out and cause cracks.
-
a. Determine the total surface.
b. Deduct the fixed elements (bath, vanity, shower, kitchen island, stove, etc.).
c. Deduct 4% of the result.
d. Select a cable smaller than but as close as possible to the size of the surface to be heated.
-
Since the cable is relatively simple to install, you can do the work yourself. However, the electrical connection portion of the work must be entrusted to a certified electrician.
-
You can repair a Comfort~One cable with a repair kit (sold separately). We can also refer you to one of our experienced technicians. Service and Support
-
Yes. You can heat a room (primary heating) or even an entire home, by choosing the appropriate spacing.
-
In general, a COMFORT~ONE™ cable can heat a solarium. However, certain factors may influence our system’s performance, such as insulation, fenestration and the orientation of the room in relation to the sun. Addition of auxiliary heating is sometimes required.
-
This heating system operates contrary to traditional systems. With COMFORT~ONE™, the heat emanates from the floor and is transferred to the neighbouring surfaces. The temperature difference between the floor and the ceiling is considerably reduced, so there are substantial energy savings, ranging from 25 to 30%.
-
A COMFORT~ONE™ cable cannot be cut or extended. It is important to check the cable length carefully before starting installation. Cutting the cable would void the warranty.
-
No. Never. Stapling the cable would void the warranty.
-
There is no fire hazard, because the cable is buried under a layer of concrete. In addition, the absence of oxygen reduces the fire hazard to zero. In case of a defect, the COMFORT~ONE™ system will stop working, thanks to the circuit-breaker built into the thermostat.
-
You can install several cables on the same thermostat. However, you must conform to a maximum of 15 A per thermostat. If your COMFORT~ONE™ heating system requires more than 15 A, you can use a slave unit.
-
Due to the unique connection point design, electromagnetic emissions are ultra-low.
-
What is important is to use a thermostat connected with a floor sensor. Any other thermostat is not recommended.
